Create a News report from the past using iMovie Green Screen

Overview

Travel back in time by superimposing video clips using green-screen effects with iMovie for iPad. Place a subject in front of archival photos and video clips of historical events for a report that brings history to life.


Create a newspaper article with pages

Overview

In this activity, students will use the inbuilt publishing tool Pages to create a newspaper article retelling the King Tut’s tomb was discovered in November 1922 by Howard Carter. In doing so they learn that to use software to create and combine content for a meaningful purpose.


Brainstorm ideas in Notes.

Overview

Before beginning a lesson or unit, use Notes to get students thinking about new concepts. Activate prior knowledge by brainstorming ideas about a topic.


You can use Notes to collect information, organise ideas in lists and use drawing tools to add sketches.

Create a Photo poster using Pages

Overview

Invite students to go deeper into a topic — like geography, historical landmarks or local culture — through photography. Photo posters are a great visual aid to help communicate a story or message.

Have students take a photo that represents the subject. Add a title and the photo using the poster template, and then choose colours from the photo for the background and text.

Emulate a hero/historical figure using camera and markup

Overview

  1. Using the camera ask students to take self-portraits.

  2. Go to Photos and select the photo you want to edit

  3. Tap Edit, then tap the Markup button.

  4. Tap the Add button to add text, shapes and more, add Egyptian make up and jewellery.

  5. Tap Done, then tap Done again and share!

Create an A-Z of Ancient Egypt themology

Overview

Have students showcase new ideas and illustrate understanding of ancient Egypt in a book of alphabetised images. Use the Pages template below to collect them all in an A–Z themed book.
